Built because the tools were lying about our calls.

South African debt collection runs on code-switched speech. A collector in Johannesburg opens in isiZulu, closes in English, and drops Sepitori in between — inside single sentences, not just between calls.

The problem we found

Compliance monitoring tools built for American English do one of two things with this speech. They transcribe the non-English parts as noise, which quietly deletes the most important moments of the call. Or they invent a plausible English sentence that was never said — which is worse, because the invention looks like evidence.

Meanwhile, the QA team samples. Thirty calls a week out of thousands, reviewed by tired people with a spreadsheet. The breach that matters is the one nobody sampled, and the regulator does not accept “we checked 3%” as a compliance programme.

What we built instead

Sentinel transcribes every call in the languages actually spoken — including Sepitori and the urban vernaculars with no ISO language code — and scores each one against the agency's own QA rubric, the one the compliance officer already wrote.

Every finding is anchored to the moment of audio that produced it, shown in the transcript in the original language. A person confirms or overturns it, typically in under ninety seconds. Nothing reaches an agent's record until a person has agreed with the system.

Our positions, stated plainly.

QA is for coaching first

Sentinel exists to make agents better and agencies safer, in that order. Agents see their own scores, hear the audio behind each finding, and can appeal. A system agents believe is unfair gets quietly worked around.

The human confirms

The system proposes; a person disposes. Findings never write themselves into an agent’s record, and low-confidence findings are routed to a human lane rather than asserted.

Evidence over assertions

Every claim the system makes carries its source — the moment of audio, the transcript in the original language, the confidence. If the evidence does not hold, the finding does not stand.

What we are not

We do not sell surveillance, voice analytics for marketing, or any use of debtor data beyond the compliance analysis the agency commissioned. We process what the agency owns, for the agency’s compliance purpose, under a signed operator agreement.

Who builds it

SENTINEL is built by ST NUBIAN, based in Johannesburg. We do not publish headshots or invented tenure here; the people you will meet are the people who build and support the product, and the first of them replies to your demo request.
